You'll be on cloud 9 being in the crowd at one of Lauren Ash's shows, which I had the honour of attending for the final night of her Call Me When You Get This Tour. The tour which started in London, Ontario on October 2nd wrapped up with a bang at The Mod Club earlier this week in Toronto. Fans of Superstore and punk rock listeners alike were not prepared for what Lauren had in store for the night.

Arriving on stage with zero hesitation, The Crease Rule brought high energy that knows how to light a fire under the crowd. Their strong tempos, sing along choruses, and perfected stage presence had the patrons of the room getting amped up for Lauren Ash’s set, cranking the adrenaline to the max. Whether it was swaying to the vocals and head banging to the kick drum, The Crease Rule made sure the crowd was more than ready for the remainder of the night.

Shiv and the Carvers was up next. For me, this was another full circle moment. The very first article I wrote as a music photojournalist was for Bif Naked back in mid 2023 where she performed at The Rec Room in Barrie, Ontario, and Shiv and the Carvers opened up. It was interesting to see over two years later how much the band had grown, developed and perfected their performance and sound. Their energy had gotten much stronger, their stage presence and vocals at an all new high, and being able to witness them again just brought a kind of nostalgia that you don't get to feel very often.

At 9:30 Lauren Ash took the stage to kick off the final performance of the tour. The show started with a video of the cast of Superstore congratulating Lauren on her latest album Call Me When You Get This, and wishing her the best of luck on her tour. It was a heart warming moment for fans of Lauren and the tv series a like. The stage decorated with her band, an old television set and various props was arranged and ready as Lauren came out and instantly started the show with her songs "Dumpster Fire", "The One That Got Away" and "Now I Know".

Lauren briefly took a pause to talk about her interested in music and how she got to where she is today, speaking about how the film Mad Love inspired her to pursue a music career when the band 7 Year Bitch made a cameo in the film performing their song "The Scratch". Lauren then proceeded to perform a cover of "The Scratch" to a roar of applause from the crowd.

Continuing on into the night, Lauren performed a stacked setlist with songs such as "Blow It Up", "Pathological", and "Walk Away". Even including covers of Blink 182's song "Family Reunion", and The Offspring's "All I Want". Lauren has become no stranger to the stage, standing upon it she made it her own, and dominated The Mod Club theatre, having fans up in a frenzy, and moving and head banging to every song she performed. Fans were even indulged with a mashup that included, Green Day's "When I Come Around", Blink 182's "What's My Age Again?", No Doubt's "Just A Girl", and Weezer's "Buddy Holly".

Rounding things off Lauren closed the main part of the show with "The Day I Got Over You", "Whiplash", and "Diet Coke and Lexapro". She then returned to perform an encore of "F.A.F.O", a cover of Hole's song, "Violet", and closed out the night with her song, "Cool Story Bro".

I had the honour of meeting Lauren earlier this year at All Your Friends Fest and let me tell you that she is the most down to Earth, kind and generous person you will every meet, and to top it off, her stage presence is beyond spectacular. Please keep your eye out for when Lauren Ash goes on tour again as she is an artist you will not want to miss.
